Welcome to the Public Works Department. Glenn Roberts, the department director, is responsible for the approval, construction, maintenance and management of Palo Alto's public facilities, streets, sidewalks, street trees; parking lots and storm drains. The Public Works Department is also responsible for the administration and operation of the Palo Alto landfill and Regional Water Quality Control Plant; and administration of the National Flood Insurance Program. In addition, Public Works maintains the entire City fleet with full equipment replacement, preventative maintenance and fueling.
