Welcome to the Public Works Department. Mike Sartor, Department Director, is responsible for the approval, construction and maintenance of Palo Alto's public facilities, streets, sidewalks, street trees, parking lots and storm drains. The Public Works Department is also responsible for the administration and operation of the Regional Water Quality Control Plant; and administration of the National Flood Insurance Program. In addition, Public Works maintains the entire City fleet with full equipment replacement, preventative maintenance and fueling.
