Palo Alto Parent Project

"Because the tougher it gets to be a kid,

The tougher it gets to be a parent!"

The Palo Alto Police Department in partnership with the Palo Alto Unified School District presents the Parent Project.   This national program was created for parents with strong-willed or at-risk teens. 

Fall 2009 Session

September 10, 2009 through November 19, 2009

Thursdays 6:00 to 9:00 pm at the Palo Alto High School located at 50 Churchill Ave.

Topics addressed include:

  • School behavior, attendance and grades
  • Reducing arguing and conflict in the home
  • Understanding why teens do what they do
  • Identifying and addressing gang involvement
  • Internet, music, and media influences
  • Friendships and dating
  • Alcohol and Drug use

Registration process:  You can register in person at the Palo Alto Police Department located at 275 Forest Ave.  Please call Officer Nanelle Newbom at 650-617-3100, ext. 1373 or Officer Manuel Temores at the same number, ext 1270 to make an appointment.

Cost:  The fee for the 12-week program is only $100.00 per family plus $35.00 for the Parent Project work book which is yours to keep. If you agree to attend the entire session, the Palo Alto Adult School will pay your tuition cost.

Food will be provided at the beginning of each class.  Food is donated by local Palo Alto restaurants that have been supporting the program since its inception in 2007.
