Wide Load permits are required for any oversized vehicle traveling on Palo Alto city streets. The fee is $16 for a one-time use permit. Oversized vehicles are required to remain on approved truck routes, and must take the shortest and most direct route from a truck route to the point of destination. Time restrictions may apply, and pace cars may be required. The exact route and time restrictions will generally be mutually agreed upon by the Transportation Division and the trucking company prior to issuance of the permit.
Oversized vehicle movements along El Camino Real, Highway 101, Highway 280, Page Mill, Oregon and Foothill Expressways are not controlled by the City.
