Middle School Bike Skills
The Palo Alto Recreation Department is offering classes to teach bicycle traffic skills to children between 10 and 14 years old and their parents. The classes are taught by Richard Swent ( www.bikeclass.swent.net ), a League of American Bicyclists Certified Instructor. To enroll, see the Kids & Teens section of the ENJOY catalog or go to this website: http://enjoyonline.cityofpaloalto.org . Select Activities , then enter the class number or search on the word bike.

Courses are given at the Cubberley Community Center from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on the following dates:

Adult Bicycling Skills Classes

The Know-How You Need to Ride the Roads

Learn how to safely and confidently use your bike for transportation. Day and night visibility, how to traverse all types of intersections/interchanges, four ways to make left turns, local and regional routes for commuting and utility trips, how to take your bike on Caltrain, BART, VTA Light Rail, buses and ferries, and your legal rights and responsibilities under the California Vehicle Code are a few of the topics covered. Students are encouraged to bring a bicycle to the final class for an inspection, fit, licensing and flat tire repair clinic. Students must be 17 years of age or older.
