Research shows that it can cost an estimated 0-8% of the total project cost to comply with the Palo Alto Green Building Program, however owners can recoup over three times that investment through annual operational savings in their energy, water and waste bills, and through improved worker health and productivity. Local and nationally incentives are available to supplement the initial investment necessary to go green.  Below is a list of available rebates and incentives listed by those that apply to residential and non-residential projects.

RESIDENTIAL INCENTIVES and REBATES

 The City of Palo Alto Utilities offers residents multiple money-saving opportunities, including rebates for Energy Star appliances, rewards for exceeding the green building requirements, solar power incentives, and a free fridge pick-up service.  The Santa Clara Valley Water District offers up to $1,000 in rebates for installing efficient irrigation systems, toilets, clothes washers, and water softeners. NON RESIDENTIAL INCENTIVES and REBATES
