The 2007 California Building Standards Code became effective statewide on January 1, 2008. Included in the new CBSC are the 2007 versions of the California Building Code (based on the 2006 International Building Code), California Electrical Code (based on the 2005 National Electrical Code), California Mechanical Code (based on the 2006 Uniform Mechanical Code), California Plumbing Code (based on the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code) and California Fire Code (based on the 2006 International Fire Code). Additionally, the City of Palo Alto adopted local amendments to the State model codes with supportive Findings of Fact, which were filed with the State Building Standards Commission. These local amendments also became effective in Palo Alto on January 1.
