Palo Alto Municipal Code Title 15 (PAMC 15.04.343) requires annual testing and maintenance of your toxic gas systems, including the monitoring system. This reminder is to advise you that Palo Alto Fire Department Hazardous Materials inspection staff must be present to witness this annual test of the monitoring system and that the test must be a full functional test of the entire system.
Here are some useful tips in preparing for and conducting the annual test:
- Submit a gas system alarm "input / output matrix" and a diagram or schematic of the toxic gas system prior to the testing.
- Test gases must be the actual gas the system is designed to monitor and concentration must be at PEL unless otherwise arranged with your Hazardous Materials Inspector prior to the test.
- Provide a copy of the annual test within 30 days of completion. The test report should include initial finding or status and the final status.
