A dynamic team of dedicated volunteers currently provides staff with the support that enables the library to provide diverse collections and services on a daily basis. To apply, simply print the volunteer application form from the Library home page and return it to one of the Palo Alto City libraries.
Volunteer opportunities are available thoughout the year.

Days and hours are flexible to meet individual needs and we welcome new volunteers throughout the year!
- Assist with mailing announcements, newsletters, etc.
- Help the Friends of the Library prepare for monthly book sales
- Deliver materials to homebound customers
- Cover, mend and repair books
- Do art or graphics work
- Work with children
- Assist with opening the library and other housekeeping tasks
- Assist book and audiovisual material selectors
- Process incoming materials
- Filing and other clerical tasks
- Washing book and magazine covers
- Shelving books and other library materials
