Looking For a Job?

Many folks are looking for work.  Palo Alto City Library knows of a number of resources that could help you find a job or expand your career. 

  • Learning Express - online resource for practicing tests such as civil service and GED.  Learning Express also offers Microsoft Office tutorials.  (Requires a library card.)
  • Business databases for researching companies. (Requires a library card.)
  • Large selection of books on writing resumes, cover letters, exploring career options and job search skills.
  • Can't come in for a book?  Net Library offers a number of titles on writing resumes and finding employment - full text online.  (Requires a library card.)
  • No library card?  No problem!  Go to this page and click on "Get a Library Card" just below the PIN# entry box.
  • Need to get on the Internet?  We offer computers for public use and we are a Wifi hot spot.
  • Our Computers have the full Microsoft Suite, including Word, Power Point and Excel, so you can create a resume that will impress.
  • Don't know how to search the web?  We have tutors that will teach you.   Call 650-239-2436 to arrange for a tutor.
  • Volunteer at the library - it is great on your resume. You can help others, learn new skills and make connections while you wait for the perfect job.
