This camera continually scans the foothills from the top of the weather station at Fire Station 8, located at Foothills Park. The web display is a live feed directly from the camera. Palo Alto Fire Department has had a camera monitor the foothills for several years to provide residents and city staff a closer view of potential fire activity in the foothills. This camera is a significant improvement over the previous installation because once the software installation is completed fire staff could use the camera to zoom in to view any reports of smoke or fire to aid in more rapid response.
