Picnic Areas
A picnic area with four tables is available free of charge adjacent to the Ranger Station at 2500 Embarcadero Road. Tables are available only on a "first come – first served" basis. This picnic area cannot be reserved for exclusive use for families or groups.
Exclusive Use Reservations
Some areas of the Baylands, such as "The Compass" field near the Sailing Station or the meadow behind the Duck Pond can be reserved for special events such as weddings or memorial services. Contact a park ranger by calling (650) 617-3156 for reservation information and special-use permits.
Lucy Evans Baylands Nature Center
The Nature Center, offering unparalleled views of the bay and sunsets, can be rented after regular public hours for parties, receptions, retreats and business meetings. The main meeting room accommodates 144 guests for lectures or presentations, or 96 guests seated for dining. Rental of the Nature Center includes the use of the lobby area, restrooms, deck and the classroom, which can be used as a staging area for your caterer or for storage of supplies.
The center has a small coffee bar with sink and microwave oven for preparation of refreshments.
Tables, chairs, coffee urn, a podium, slide projector and screen are provided to Center renters for no additional charge. Our staff will work with your caterer or event planner to suggest table and chair placement that will make your event comfortable and fun. A unique setting amid the Harriett Mundy Marsh, the Baylands Nature Center provides a relaxing and truly unforgettable location that allows guests to feel as though they are miles away from it all.
Effective July 1, 2005, the rental rate for the Lucy Evans Nature Center is $58.00 per hour for residents $87.00 per hour for non-residents. The hourly rate is discounted 50% off for non-profit organizations. Events requiring a building attendant to lock and unlock the building and preserve gates will be charged an additional $18.00 per hour, or $33.00 per hour on holidays.
