YOUTH ART 2009, Sixth Annual CULTURAL KALEIDOSCOPE, HOPE TECHNOLOGY
The Palo Alto Art Center presents three spring exhibitions showcasing spirited artwork by area students.
Public opening reception with student artists: Wednesday, May 13, 2009, 5:30-8 p.m.
The Palo Alto Art Center (PAAC), in collaboration with the Palo Alto Unified School District (PAUSD), celebrates the artistic gifts of our community's students K-12 by hosting the Youth Art Exhibition from May 10-31, 2009. This annual exhibition highlights the artistic output of students, who participate in visual arts education programs within the PAUSD. It features instructor-selected work that demonstrates artistic accomplishment and innovation in the classroom. A component of these programs is the Spectra Art program that provides elementary school students with experiences that explore a wide variety of media, artists and artistic processes. The exhibition has received special support from the Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati Foundation.
The companion exhibition, Cultural Kaleidoscope, is an arts education program of the Palo Alto Art Center Foundation (PAACF). This artist-in-residency program partners grades K-5 classes from schools in the PAUSD and the Ravenswood City School District (East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park). Its goal is to deepen students' awareness of diverse cultures through the creation of independent and collaborative art projects. (www.paacf.com)
