The Carrie Abramovitz Scholarship Fund

The Carrie Abramovitz Scholarship Fund provides outstanding opportunities for artistically talented local teens.

Scholarship recipients receive a $1500 annual award, for one or two years. The scholarship can be used for art supplies, tuition, study materials, trips to galleries, museums and artists' studios. Most importantly, each scholarship recipient is teamed with an artist/mentor for a course of study that includes classes, workshops, field trips, and independent study.  The course of study culminates into the annual exhibition of student work held each spring at PAAC.

Scholarship selection is based primarily on recognized talent, secondarily on financial need. Applicants must be 10th and 11th graders, and must reside or attend school in Palo Alto or East Palo Alto. An artist who will serve as a mentor for the candidate will be identified to work with the recipient. At their initial meeting the course for the year will be established.

The Carrie Abramovitz Scholarship Fund was established in 2000 at The Palo Alto Art Center in honor of the memory of Carrie Abramovitz, artist and long time Palo Alto resident. The program is managed by the Palo Alto Art Center and is supported by the Palo Alto Art Center Foundation.
