While the Art Center is on the Road, art class programs for children and adults will be held at locations throughout Palo Alto.
Classes and workshops for adults:
The Palo Alto Art Center offers classes, workshops, and drop-in studios for beginners to advanced students in a variety of media including: painting, drawing, mixed-media, ceramics and jewelry. Our well-equipped studios and experienced instructors will inspire art students of all levels. Create and learn in a friendly and supportive environment! Classes are offered during the fall, winter and spring sessions for 10 weeks during the summer for 5 weeks. Workshops vary in length from 1/2-day to weeklong.
Drop-In Adult Studios:
Drop-in studio programs are offered on an ongoing, drop-in basis. No pre-registration is required and no formal instruction is provided. Open studios provide a unique opportunity to work independently in the company of other students and artists.

Classes for children:
Children's Fine Art (CFA) at the Palo Alto Art Center has been providing quality art experiences to the children of Palo Alto and surrounding communities since 1940. We serve approximately 2,000 children every year, from the ages of 18 months to 18 years. We offer after-school classes, special workshops, and week-long summer studios in a variety of media including ceramics, drawing, painting, and fine crafts. We also provide diverse specialized classes and workshops including:
- Tinkering
- Digital Photography
- Puppet Making
- Japanese Brush Painting
Most of our teachers are working artists; all of them are wonderful art educators. We teach the skills children need to bring creativity into their adult lives.
