Palo Alto's City Council is comprised of nine members elected by the public. The 2009 City Council is led by Mayor Peter Drekmeier, Vice Mayor Jack Morton and Council Members John Barton, Pat Burt, Sid Espinosa, Yoriko Kishimoto, Larry Klein, Greg Schmid, and Yiaway Yeh.
