Description: Provides services and programs to assist consumers and businesses. The focus is on marketplace concerns, such as honest advertising and selling practices. Collects and reports information to help prospective buyers make informed decisions. Develops programs to encourage business firms to regulate their own advertising and selling practices, and serves as a neutral third party to help settle disputes between consumers and business. Provides information about companies, particularly whether or not there are unanswered or unsettled complaints, or other problems. Information is also provided on charities and other organizations that are seeking donations. Helps resolve buyer/seller complaints against a company, including mediation and arbitration services through the Alternative Dispute Resolution program. Disseminates accurate consumer information so wise-buying decisions can be made. Issues press releases on fraudulent and harmful practices in the marketplace. Publishes pamphlets on a wide variety of topics of interest to consumers and businesses. Alternative Dispute Resolution is a program offering the consumer and the BBB-member business an opportunity to resolve the mediate issues (limitations exist) between both parties in the area of customer service and satisfaction.
