Description: 
Services include 24-hour mobile crisis response to those under 18 years; individualized, community-based wraparound programs; school-based mental health services; children sexual abuse treatment; foster family agency; residential programs; mental health therapy and substance abuse prevention/education. Helps children with complex emotional, social and behavioral needs and their families. Services aid children, adolescents and families at all levels of need. Focuses on treating the whole person - providing individualized assessments and treatment plans that include the child's family's sociocultural context. Through proactive, timely, multi-disciplinary treatment planning, which includes the child and parents or guardians, a child and family team works to provide structure, build linkages in families, involve the extended family in therapy, and always view children, adolescents and families within the context of their ethnic and cultural history. Kids Are Special provides ten-week educational support groups for children and parents in families affected by alcohol and other drugs. This service emphasizes problem-solving and decision-making skills. Topics include drug and alcohol use and abuse, child abuse, child development and behavior, communication, discipline, safety issues, self-esteem, sibling issues, and stress and anger management.
