Description:
The Family Resource Center provides a wide variety of information about child and maternal health and well-being. The collection includes books, periodicals, pamphlets, audio tapes, and videotapes on a variety of topics from coping with chronic illness and hospitalization to parenting skills and child development. The Resource Center also maintains a large collection of recreational reading materials and video tapes. FRC's aim is to augment the efforts of the health care team by 1) providing scientifically based medical information and developmentally-appropriate health education, 2) fostering understanding of pediatric and maternal health medical issues, 3) assisting patients and families in coping with illness and hospitalization, 4) encouraging communication between patients, their families and health care professionals, and 5) contributing to a healing environment through reading and storytelling (497-8679).
