|Palo Alto, CA -- Three masked suspects, including one armed with a rifle or shotgun, robbed the 7-Eleven convenience store in midtown Palo Alto overnight yesterday. The clerk sustained minor injuries and the suspects are at large.|
On Monday, October 14, 2013, at about 2:20 a.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a 9-1-1 call from the clerk of the 7-Eleven convenience store at 708 Colorado Avenue reporting the store had just been robbed at gunpoint. Officers arrived on scene shortly thereafter, but were unable to locate the suspects.
The investigation revealed the three suspects had entered the store, and the primary suspect pointed either a rifle or shotgun at the clerk and demanded money. The victim clerk, a man in his forties, complied and handed over money from the register. The primary suspect then punched the victim in the face and took his wallet. The other two suspects stole miscellaneous items from the store's inventory. The three suspects then ran out of the store and fled on foot in an unknown direction. There were no customers in the store at the time of the robbery. The clerk had minor injuries to his mouth and nose from the punch.
The primary suspect is an unknown race male, about 6 feet 3 inches tall and approximately 270 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, black gloves, and a white mask. This suspect was armed with a long-barreled firearm. The second suspect is an unknown race male, about 5 feet 11 inches tall and approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white stripes on the sleeves and shoulders, black pants, black gloves, and a white mask. The third suspect is a light-skinned male of unknown race, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and approximately 180 pounds. He was wearing a gray jacket, black pants, and a black mask. No suspect vehicles were seen.
As the suspects all wore masks that obscured their faces, no sketches will be forthcoming. No surveillance images are available for public release.
Detectives are actively investigating this robbery. This particular 7-Eleven convenience store was last robbed on June 12, 2013, by a single masked suspect armed with a handgun. That case has not yet been solved. Detectives do not know if the two robberies are connected. Anyone with information about either case is asked to call our 24-hour dispatch center at 650-329-2413.
