|Palo Alto, CA – A suspect robbed a bank in downtown Palo Alto this afternoon after passing a note to a teller. The suspect fled on foot and remains at large.|
On Monday, May 22, 2017 at about 1:19 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call of a robbery that had just occurred at Bank of America, located at 530 Lytton Avenue. Officers responded immediately, but the suspect could not be found.
The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank and presented a note to a teller demanding money. The teller gave an undisclosed amount of money to the suspect. The suspect then left the bank and was last seen walking eastbound on Lytton Avenue.
The suspect is a black male, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 160 pounds. He was wearing a multicolored jacket over a green shirt and blue jeans. He also wore wrap-around black sunglasses and a black beanie. No weapon was seen or mentioned. A still image from the bank surveillance system is attached to this release.
Detectives are actively investigating this case. This is the first bank robbery in Palo Alto thus far in 2017.
